Lifelong learning through travel.
I was so lucky to call Japan home for eight years and spent another year immersing myself in the vibrant culture of South Korea. Those experiences have given me a deep appreciation for their unique customs and traditions. Exploring new and welcoming environments is truly invigorating. Traveling is my passion, and I've had the opportunity to backpack and vacation in over 35 countries, constantly learning from the diverse world around me. I firmly believe that we can only grow and learn by opening our minds to the valuable lessons offered by others. The anticipation of planning my next adventure brings me immense joy as I continue to seek out new and wonderful places to explore.
Lifelong learning through play.
Play is not limited to childhood; it should continue and evolve as we grow older. In fact, it becomes even more fascinating! Engaging in fun and stimulating activities is crucial for maintaining a healthy mind and body. Unfortunately, as adults, we often forget the liberating feeling of play and allowing ourselves to experience life without constraints. We become consumed by the expectations and pressures associated with adulthood, causing us to neglect our true passions. However, play manifests in numerous forms and is vital for both our physical and mental well-being. It doesn't have to be physically active; it can take the shape of meditation, reflection, or journaling to stimulate our minds. So, make it a daily practice to incorporate some form of play into your life. Rediscover the joy of being playful and let go of the inhibitions that hinder us from truly embracing the wonders of life.
Lifelong learning through challenge.
Stepping out of our comfort zones is not only the best but also the essential way to learn and grow. Some argue that it is the sole path to true learning. When we have a genuine passion for something, we immerse ourselves in it, continually learning and evolving—this is what keeps it fascinating. As an educator, I am driven by this philosophy, always embracing the opportunity to learn, make mistakes, and grow. I actively seek challenges, not only in my professional life but also in my hobbies. Engaging in physical challenges has been particularly rewarding for me. I've conquered various obstacle course races, marathons, and a challenging 59km trail race called the Korea 50K (pictured above). Looking ahead, I yearn to explore new trails, camp in different locations, and embark on new adventures. The world is vast and remarkable, offering countless experiences waiting to be discovered. By pushing our boundaries and embracing the unknown, we unlock our true potential and open ourselves up to a world of possibilities.
